Good For: Being a natural food supplement that can help you lose weight alongside a healthy, balanced diet.

MeratolOverview:

The makers of Meratol™ claim its multi ingredients can help to boost your metabolism, increase alertness, amplify endurance and reduce fatigue. Refreshingly, Meratol™ is promoted as a food supplement designed to be taken alongside a healthy diet and exercise regime, as opposed to replacing it. Its makers even encourage you not to diet when using the tablets, but to eat healthy food in moderation and exercise well.
They also claim that Meratol™ can help you to stay focused when trying to lose weight.

Pros:

  • As Meratol™ claims to boost endurance, it should also enable you to improve your capacity to exercise and your performance.
  • As well as boosting your metabolism, studies show Meratol™ may help to lesson food cravings and therefore reduce calorie intake. Note the use of ‘may’ in the literature.
  • The supplement may also help to burn calories and obstruct carbohydrate intake.
  • No food is banned as long as you follow a healthy, balanced diet.
  • The supplements are based on natural ingredients and no side effects have been reported.
  • Studies suggest that its Cacti-Nea™ ingredient could help with moderate weight loss (among non-obese participants of the study with a BMI of between 20 & 25). The same study also suggests it could have a positive impact on cellulite (aqueous, adipose or mixed cellulite).
  • Studies among people with a wide range of BMI, from 28 to 39, showed that the ID-alG™ in Meratol™ (brown algae) helped reduce the ability of the body to store fat, hence reduce the body fat mass, as well as helping to control caloric intake and weight.

Cons:

  • Not suitable for vegetarians or vegans due to a small amount of Gelatine in the capsule.
  • The 25mg of caffeine contained in the supplement is a relatively low amount if you compare it to the likes of Diet Coke or Pepsi, or even tea, but you do need to take two of the supplements a day. That 50mg of caffeine is potentially equal to an extra small cup of instant coffee each day, so if you’re worried about your caffeine intake, you may want to cut out one coffee a day.
  • Since weight loss may well occur even without changing your diet, it could tempt consumers to continue with unhealthy eating habits.
  • While the makers of Meratol ™ place a lot of emphasis on a healthy, balanced diet, they include little or no documentation to teach you what that is. As such, you may be eating unhealthily without knowing it.

Sample:

There are 60 capsules in a bottle (one month’s supply), take 2 in the morning before breakfast.

Ingredients:

Capsicum (chilli), brown algae, prickly pear and caffeine.

Health Warnings:

Not to be used if pregnant, when breast feeding or if you have a heart condition.

Summary:

The refreshing thing about Meratol™ is its emphasis on eating healthily and exercising well, as opposed to promising outlandish weight loss claims that it cannot deliver. It is upfront in what the supplement can and cannot do, and what other benefits it may have. If it does live up to its assertions, it may well be the best choice for those who want to lose weight the healthy way but need a little helping hand to keep them on track.
